Sky Meadow Retreat

100+ Acres and Renovated Barn for Retreats, Small Weddings, Large Groups Relax and rejuvenate at our idyllic Vermont retreat center, with plenty of room for large groups or small weddings. Enjoy our well-stocked yoga space, fully equipped kitchen & dining areas, large porch, mountain views, woodland trails, swimming ponds, bonfire pits, & more! There’s lots to know about our unique space, so please read in full before you book. FYI, we offer the option to book directly through our website without fees. Just type Sky Meadow Retreat into your search bar to find us. PET POLICY: You MUST indicate any pets in your group in your initial booking request (prior to making your reservation). Because of the many free-range animals who live at Sky Meadow, bringing pets is strongly discouraged, but may be allowed with specific approval prior to booking. If approved, then a $500 pet fee will be added per stay. ***ALL DOGS, INCLUDING SERVICE ANIMALS, MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES WHILE OUTSIDE. They must also be closely supervised indoors (or crated when you are not with them).*** Unleashed dogs in the past have caused injuries to our animals, so of course we are extra cautious about having them on the property. (Sheep are especially vulnerable to sheep worrying, wherein being chased can be harmful, even fatal, because of the extreme stress and/or injuries sustained as they try to escape. Even if the dog is well-meaning and merely curious, and even if the dog does not actually catch the sheep, the danger is the same. Keeping dogs on-leash whenever they are outside, even just for a minute, is the only way to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.) Being animal lovers ourselves, we understand that it’s hard to be away from your beloved pets.. DRIVING IN WINTER & "MUD SEASON": If visiting in winter and early spring, we strongly recommend bringing an AWD vehicle and/or winter tires and chains to ensure you do not get stuck in the event of inclement weather. The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is a rural, mountainous area with many gravel roads. Please be aware of how this might affect your vehicle and plan accordingly — we don't want anyone getting stuck! Our local road crews do a great job maintaining the roads and clearing them efficiently after snowfall, and we also plow our driveway and parking area as quickly as possible after snowfall. Having AWD and/or snow tires will provide an extra layer of safety, especially if you are arriving or departing in the middle of a winter weather event or while the roads are muddy in spring. PARTICIPATION AGREEMENT: All Sky Meadow guests will be asked to sign our participation agreement prior to arrival. (If there are minors in your group, their parents can sign on their behalf.) If you would like to review this agreement before you book, you can find it on our website, or just ask - we're happy to share it! :) GROUPS LARGER THAN 12 GUESTS, PLEASE NOTE: The nightly rate shown is our base rate, and actual rates are calculated based on total guest count. For insurance and liability reasons, we charge an additional $85/night per guest after the first 12 guests. The platform allows you to put up to 16 guests in your reservation request; if you have a group larger than 16, please feel free to message us first so we can send you a special offer inclusive of your actual guest count, and avoid surprises later. Reservations consisting of more than 12 guests will also be asked to sign a separate rental agreement which simply enforces the house rules, as specified in this rental listing. SUMMER VS. WINTER CAPACITY: During the summer months from June-September, when the outbuildings and cottages are open, our property can host up to 30 guests. In the winter months from October-May, our property can lodge up to 22 guests, and we have some extra air mattresses, futons etc. on-hand to accommodate a few additional people, if you would like. Please time your visit accordingly and let us know if you have any questions! FOR WEDDINGS AND CATERED RETREATS: Please book through our website! Simply search “Sky Meadow Retreat” in your favorite search engine to find us. The entire property and all 100+ acres are available for use, including the Retreat Barn living and dining areas, yoga floor, fully equipped kitchen, three shared bathrooms (all located in the barn), hilltop area with meditation gazebo, outdoor dance pavilion with bonfire pit, swimming ponds and forest trails. The Retreat Barn, with accommodations for up to 22 people, is available year-round, and for those visiting between June-September, the various cabins and cottages are also available and can accommodate up to 30. Caretakers Erin & Brendan live in a private house on-site which is not available for guest access. The animals also live behind the house in a private pasture. You are welcome to visit with the animals during your stay, but for your safety and the safety of our animals, we ask that you please check in with one of the caretakers before entering the pasture. Free parking is available on the property with room for around 15-20 cars (so carpooling is encouraged for larger groups). You will see the parking lot to your right as you pull past the Sky Meadow sign. Everything you need on the property is within walking distance. Two on-site caretakers, Brendan & Erin, live on the property in a private residence separate from guest areas. They will be available to welcome you to the space and offer assistance if needed, but otherwise will remain out of your way during your stay. The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont is a truly magical place! Surrounded by 115 acres of woodlands, Sky Meadow is a serene, tranquil spot to get away from the hustle and noise of the world and reconnect to nature. There are many wonderful local attractions, restaurants and more to enjoy in our area. Here are just a few: - Hill Farmstead Brewery, the #1 rated brewery in America, is a 15-minute drive - Highland Center for the Arts, offering regular concerts and events, is a 15-minute drive - Bread & Puppet, world-renowned political puppet theater and beloved VT institution, is a 20-minute drive - Nearby towns Hardwick (15 minute drive) and St. Johnsbury (30 minute drive) feature great restaurants, bars & shopping - Lake Willoughby, Caspian Lake & Mount Elmore are a few great local spots for swimming and hiking in the summer months - 1 hour from historic Stowe and 1.5 hours from beautiful Burlington - Sky Meadow is centrally located between three major VT ski mountains — Smuggs, Jay Peak and Burke — so it makes a great "home base" for folks wanting to enjoy multiple ski options - 5 minutes away, Greensboro Bend is a convenient spot to grab essential groceries, gas and lunch (plus ice cream in summertime) Come get away from the hustle and bustle and reconnect with nature in our tranquil corner of Vermont's Northeast Kingdom! A retreat center for over 20 years, Sky Meadow Retreat exudes the eclectic, nature-loving and free-spirited attitude Vermont is known for. An ideal spot for family reunions, ski vacations, eco-conscious company retreats, small weddings & special events, or anyone who's looking for a rustic and magical getaway. The Sky Meadow Retreat Barn — with full facilities including kitchen, dining area, and lounge space, as well as a large yoga floor area perfect for group activities, events and parties — is the central hub of Sky Meadow. This area includes a coffee & tea bar, large soapstone woodstove (perfect for cozy winter fires!), Bluetooth-enabled sound system, various musical instruments, books, puzzles and yoga equipment. The back porch of the barn overlooks the animal pasture and offers a tranquil space to enjoy a morning cup of tea or an evening nightcap. The Retreat Barn also features a fully equipped kitchen in which you can prepare meals, and the coffee & tea bar comes well-stocked (including delicious local Vermont honey and hot tea water on tap!). The Retreat Barn sleeps up to 22 people, with 7 bedrooms and 3 shared bathrooms: - On the Retreat Barn's main level there are sleeping quarters for up to 12 people in 3 homey “bunk-style” bedrooms. All amenities are easily accessible from these main level rooms, including 2 full shared bathrooms, and the kitchen & dining area. - On the lower level of the Retreat Barn you will find the Sunflower Room, which can sleep up to 3 (one queen and one single twin). The Lavender Room is also located in the Lower Barn area and sleeps up to 3 (one queen and one single twin). The rooms' picture windows offer a pleasant view of the middle garden and berry patches. Both of these rooms are conveniently located just a few outside steps from the Lower Barn Bathroom (1 toilet, 1 shower). - On the upper level of the Retreat Barn, you will find our two private suites. The Sunrise Suite, on the east side of the Retreat Barn’s upper floor, comes equipped with its own kitchenette, writing desk, and sleeping for two in the cozy loft’s full-size bed. This suite also has a futon that can be made up as a full-size bed if desired. Another extra-spacious room, the Sunset Suite, is located on the Retreat Barn’s west side. It features a kitchenette, lounge area, dining space, and sleeping for two in the loft’s queen-size bed. The suites do not have their own bathrooms, but they do have composting toilets available for convenience. For showers and standard flush toilets, guests staying in the suites can use the shared bathrooms on the main and lower levels of the barn. In addition to the Retreat Barn, which is available year-round, there are 8 more charming cabins and cottages, a yurt, and even a "Hobbit House" made out of cob! All are perfect to channel your inner Thoreau and experience the simple life, tucked away amid the peaceful sights, sounds and smells of the forest. These are available seasonally from June to the end of September, and closed for the colder months from October-May. Although these hand-built, camp-style structures do not have all the same amenities as the Retreat Barn, most have small kitchenettes, running (cold) water and electricity, woodstoves for heat, and some also have composting toilets for convenience, or outhouses nearby. For showers and standard flush toilets, guests staying in the cabins should use the full bathrooms in the Retreat Barn. Outdoor shared spaces include swimming ponds, a covered dance pavilion with bonfire pit & bluetooth sound system, hilltop area with firepit, meditation gazebo, walking paths through the gardens, and 115 acres of minimally disturbed forest trails. Two caretakers, Brendan and Erin, live on-site in a private area and will be in the general vicinity to assist you should any needs arise. For over 20 years, Sky Meadow Retreat has been helping people reconnect to their true selves and tap into the beauty of nature around them. Our uniquely historic property began as a late 19th-century dairy farm before it became a homestead and later, a lovingly and consciously restored retreat center. It is a one-of-a-kind place that we're confident you will love as much as we do. Please consider booking your next retreat, vacation, special event or wedding here in the Northeast Kingdom and experience the one-of-a-kind spirit of Vermont. We'd love the opportunity to host you!
