Whimstay at VRNation: Building Relationships, and Driving Results
VRNation gave us the chance to connect with the very people we built Whimstay for, property managers driven to elevate guest experiences and do more with what they already have.
We headed to VRNation this year with one big goal in mind, to connect with property owners and managers in the vacation rental community we’re passionate about serving. This industry is built on relationships, trust, and a shared drive to create great guest experiences and VRNation gave us the perfect space to show who we are, what we’re building, and how we can help PMs do more with what they already have.
For us, this was a chance to have real conversations with the people we built Whimstay for. Here’s everything we learned this week.
Why We Came to VRNation
Our goal at VRNation was simple: connect with property managers face-to-face, have honest conversations about unmet needs within the vacation rental space, and show folks how we’re here to help.
It was also a great chance to catch up with our vendor partners—some we already work with, and some we’re hoping to team up with soon. These kinds of events let us keep those relationships strong, toss around new ideas, and stay on top of industry trends.
What We Were After This Week
Growth. That’s what it’s all about. Not just in a “more signups” kind of way, but in the deeper sense. We wanted more meaningful partnerships, more bookings for our PMs, and more conversations about who Whimstay can move the needle for property owners.
We had some great real-time convos about upsell opportunities, future deals, and how we fit into people’s current tech stacks and distribution strategies. But just as importantly, we were listening. We were trying to understand what’s working, what’s not, and how we can keep leveling up our support for the people we serve.

What Makes Whimstay, Whimstay
We’re not here to be like everyone else. That’s kind of the whole point.
- We actually embrace shoulder season. Our 11-day average lead time helps fill those tricky gaps.
- We’re not trying to replace anyone’s direct bookings or other channels. We play well with others, and we add value on top.
- We’re fast, transparent, and easy to work with. People say that a lot—we mean it.
- And we understand the local markets we serve, because we’re travelers too. We get what makes someone book in Bend vs. San Diego, and we use that knowledge to drive results.
Looking Back, Looking Ahead
VRNation reminded us why these in-person moments matter. It’s where ideas get sparked, partnerships get started, and brands like ours get to show (not just tell) what we’re all about.
To everyone who came by to talk, thank you. To the folks we’re already working with, we’re excited to keep growing together. And to those we haven’t teamed up with yet—let’s fix that.
